Why I’m here.

Hi, I’m Rebecca.

I am a Scottish girl who lives in the wilds of Los Angeles, where I spend my time cooking up a storm, painting, running my little business, and getting very messy most of the time. I work as a herbalist, seeing clients both and concocting magic healing potions.

I like words (like gloaming and abhorrent), and colours (like international klein blue and magenta), and plants (like yarrow and sage). I’ve been known to return home from long hikes with pet rocks and feathers and bones. I like wild things- patches of moss creeping up the sides of buildings and overgrown gardens that make Home Owners Associations uncomfortable. I like weeds like nobody’s business. Oh, and the sea. I like the sea. I think the majority of my childhood can be chronicled by an adventure at one edge of an ocean or another. Which reminds me- I tend to travel quite a lot too.

This blog is where I share my life. I write about food. I write about how beautiful California is, I write about things that inspire me, and about the places I travel to. And I write about being a herbalist- about plants and how you can use them. Most of them are common, and most are surprisingly easy to use. I’m in the process of sorting it out into sections- bear with me as organisation isn’t my strong point.

If you’re stopping by then come on in and say hi- you can subscribe to my blog, and find me on Facebook and Twitter. If you’re interested in a consultation, I see clients both locally and long-distance (either on Skype or on the phone). I can also often recommend a good herbalist in your area if you’d rather see someone face to face. And I love to hear from you guys, so don’t be afraid to shoot me an email to

Good Day! I am a hospice chaplain that uses essential oils on my patients–especially lavender. Do you have any products or recipes I can use to help the patient feel at peace?

“Or the magic in sitting on your front stoop watching the light change in the morning warming your hands on a steaming cup of coffee and a dream that’s still being woven from the night before. Like I said, practical. ” What wonderful words! Thank you.
