I loved the writing in this book, and the political machinations—even more complicated than I have given you here—are not easy wrong-or-right situations, but shades of gray that give you something to think about. However, the novel is first introduced through a set of letters a character, Walden, has sent to his sister regarding what he has encountered in his travel. The rich history of Virginia, the Native Americans, and the people who journeyed here from far beyond her borders are at the heart of my inspiration.
